The Murder Room

The Murder Room: The Heirs of Sherlock Holmes Gather to Solve the World's Most Perplexing Cold Cases, by Michael Capuzzo.
This nonfiction book focuses on the Vidocq Society, a collection of 80+ men and women who are specialists in crime -- polygraphers; forensic artists; FBI, police and other law enforcement detectives. The goal of the Vidocq Society is to solve unsolved crimes -- cold cases. And solve them they do -- a fascinating collection of crimes dating back to the 30s and beyond. Most interesting and most thoroughly examined in the book is Dr. Richard Walter, a psychologist and a profiler -- many consider him the father of profiling.
While this book would have been much better if it had been editted more thoroughly, as a fan of mystery novels and especially Sherlock Holmes, I loved it! I only wish Sir Conan Doyle were still around so he could read it, too!
